On September 14, 1998, SANParks purchased four hectares of land at the Southernmost Point of the African continent to establish a national park. It was officially declared on September 23, 1999, in the Government Gazette as GN 1135. Today the park stretches over 21 971.0161 hectares of land.

Come and join us as we are commemorating 20 years of conservation at the Southernmost tip. We have an exciting line-up of activities scheduled.

Presented by the Agulhas National Park and the SANParks Honorary Rangers, you are invited to take part in the Agulhas 20 years Birthday Bash Birding Day to commemorate 20 years of conservation at the Southernmost tip. All funds raised are in aid of projects in support of Agulhas National Park.

Agulhas National Park at the southernmost tip of the African continent is truly a nature-lovers’ and birders’ paradise with 270 bird species recorded in the area. The Park includes a large variety of habitats – each bringing its own unique bird species, including many endemic species such as the Hottentot Buttonquail. 

All you need to have the best 24 hours birding experience of your life is your confirmed registration, your binoculars and your passion for birding.

Date: 6 - 7 September 2019

Registration: Soutbosch, Elim Road.

Cost: R550 (includes prizes, three-course Strandveld prize-giving dinner and lucky draw prizes)
