“Climate change has made the Cape’s cool regions more important than ever. I’m very excited about what’s happening in the Agulhas Wine Triangle.” Tim Atkin, Award-Winning Wine Writer and Master of Wine
The Agulhas Wine Triangle was established in 2019 by a group of pioneering winemakers to showcase the wines, tourism and natural beauty of the Agulhas area.
Home to the southernmost vineyards in Africa, the ancient soils of the region, extreme winds, and raw landscape have helped forge wines of outstanding character, deeply reflective of their terroir. The maritime climate and cool ripening conditions result in low yields and slow ripening of the grapes in the vineyards. This helps to create wines with a common theme of elegance, concentrated flavours, and rich and deep fruit expression.
Members of the Agulhas Wine Triangle include wine cellars, estates and brand owners from Elim, Napier, Malgas, Buffeljags, Stormsvlei, Sunday’s Glen and Overberg Highlands.
