Omega Consulting Africa - A Passion For Engineering Excellence
Written by Ina Georgala
Kent Georgala, the owner of Omega Consulting Africa, is passionate about engineering. It all started in 1972 when he attended a career expo in Pretoria as a young boy. “That career exhibition was an eye-opener to the ability of engineers to make a real difference to people's lives by addressing problems like access to water and sanitation, housing, transport, etc. It is the reason why I became a civil engineer.”
After receiving his degree, Kent spent four years working towards registering as a professional engineer. This period gave him a taste for what is today his forte: providing the civil engineering and project management support on large civil and structural engineering projects. In the past 35 years he was involved in the planning, design and construction of important roads, bridges, dams, waste water treatment plants, power stations, wind farms, mine infrastructure, township developments, housing schemes and industrial parks, to name but a few. His work has also taken him all over the continent.
Now working from his base in Napier in the Overberg, Kent brings his vast knowledge and expertise in civil and structural engineering to local clients. “I am a firm believer in providing all clients, big or small, with service excellence, whether it is assessing an existing structure, designing a floor slab for a new house or project managing a large housing or shopping development.”
After two years of living in the Overberg, he is also passionate about the region's enormous potential for development. “The Overberg is perfectly poised to be one of the most progressive, innovative developing regions of South Africa - and OCA would like to be part of it.”
