Cut by hand. Slowly. With pauses, mistakes, and quiet thoughts in between.

I create hand-cut paper artworks slowly and intentionally, allowing space for stillness, breath, and quiet reflection to guide the process.

Each piece is cut entirely by hand, embracing the natural imperfections that come from human touch. No two works are ever the same — the paper, the moment, and the rhythm of the hand all leave their own subtle imprint.

My work is inspired by solitude, nature, and the gentle pauses we often forget to make time for. These pieces are created for thoughtful spaces and quiet souls — for homes that value depth over decoration, and meaning over excess.

I work in small batches and limited editions, honouring the slow, meditative nature of papercutting. This is not art made to follow trends, but art made to last — emotionally and physically.

Each piece is an invitation to slow down, to notice light and shadow, and to reconnect with a sense of calm presence.

Florence Kruger Papercutting

I am a Struisbaai based artist and I work mainly with Paper. I use traditional papercutting techniques to create my artworks.

My work is inspired by the natural world, and the things I encounter around me. I started paper cutting in 2016.

My paper cut works are hand cut from a single sheet of paper. They are first drawn out by hand on the reverse of the paper, and then cut using a scalpel.

They can take hours to complete, and I find that the process is as important to me as the finished pieces.   The simplicity of a blank sheet of paper appeals to me.  Paper is used in so many aspects of our lives, and I want to communicate this through my work.

There is nothing as ordinary as a blank sheet of paper, but it has so many possibilities and can be turned into something beautiful or meaningful, without adding anything to it.
