The Shell Museum supported by Agulhas Heritage Society and Agulhas National Park. We are looking for new and creative ways to keep mineral-based trash out of landfill sites. Any artist, crafters and creative individuals are welcome to participate. Entries to the competition will end 14 September and then the art pieces will be on display 27 and 28 September in the Church Hall, L'Agulhas. Thereafter the art pieces will be on display in the Heemhuis and Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, West Room.

RECYCLE COMPETITION & EXHIBITION 2024

What are you doing to recycle, repurpose, or reuse plastics, particularly single-use plastics?

SHELL MUSEUM supported by AGULHAS HERITAGE SOCIETY AND AGULHAS NATIONAL PARK

We are looking for new and creative ways to keep mineral-based trash out of landfills!

Theme: Icons of the Agulhas Plain include marine subjects, fynbos, historic landmarks buildings or practical items

Participants: Artists and Crafters, creative individuals.

Display: 27 & 28 September at the Church Hall, L’Agulhas. Thereafter – Heemhuis and Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, West Room

Materials: Recycled/Reduced/Reuse items that go into landfill sites. Some items are not easily recyclable or are collected from our shores. These items are mostly mineral-based like rope, plastic, foils. Builders’ rubble, electronic items and fabrics take a long time to disintegrate.

Prizes: R1000 first prize sponsored by Agulhas Heritage Society. Vouchers from A N Park and Local Businesses

Work: Aim for 90% use of repurposed materials
