Touwsberg Private Game & Nature Reserve

Imagine a world of mountains, free roaming game and abundant water in an environment historically known for its dry, though soul-soothing pristine open plains – the ideal breakaway from the smothering tightness of trade and life in the city. Here, on the southern slopes of Touwsberg, you will still find one of the last remaining treasures of nature where you can experience the timeless beauty and breath-taking fynbos of the Karoo landscape from the privacy of your own little cottage against the slopes of the Touwsberg between Ladismith and Barrydale in the Western Cape.

The reserve boasts the best the Little Karoo can offer regarding crystal clear water, flora and wild life. Within the boundaries of an owner-controlled entrance, the reserve offers a wide variety of game and flora in self-sustaining biological and ecological eco-systems. The natural habitat is a combination of typical Little Karoo fynbos and succulents playing host to a variety of smaller and larger game and natural predators.

At Touwsberg, we have excellent accommodation available to enjoy a well deserve break-away. We have more than 600 game and more than 160 species birds. We have the largest herd of Cape Mountain Zebra in private ownership and a strong water fountain at 150 000 litre per hour. Come and visit or buy your own piece of paradise!
