Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School

Where Creativity Makes Learning Lots Of Fun

Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School is a non-profit early childhood education centre in Betty’s Bay where underprivileged children between the ages of two and six years get taught their ABCs and 123s. The pre-school is registered with the Western Cape Education Department and offers two classes, the Stella Programme and the Ayona Learning Programme, each with a unique curriculum. At Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School children are mentally stimulated with activities that include reading, writing, games and one-on-one attention provided by their educators. A vegetable garden that the children tend to themselves, and a charity shop selling pre-loved items donated by the public are two projects created by Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School to be self-sustaining. Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School is grateful for any form of assistance offered by the community, and thanks you for caring.

About

Image

Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre-School was first established as a playgroup in the community hall.

The playgroup was such a success that the founder of the group and her volunteers approached the municipality about building a school in order to give the children all the benefits of Early Childhood Education.

In 2009 a brick two-classroom school equipped with a kitchen and toilets was built. Today Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Pre School caters for about 40 children from Mooi Uitsig, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els.

The school is open all year round except for a break between the 15th of December to the 9th of January.
