MEELMUIS & Bonthuys is a country store in Bredasdorp where the aroma of freshly baked bread warmly invites you inside. The hands of time seem to gently slow down, as you browse for baked goods, antiques, bric-a-brac and art supplies. MEELMUIS & Bonthuys are renowned for their homemade pizza bases and traditional South African ‘roostekoek’ that is available fresh in-store daily. Sourdough bread and other treats are baked on a Friday, or on order. The shop stocks a convenient par-baked range of handmade jams, preserves and sauces that are on sale for your added shopping pleasure. Added to these wholesome products is a treasure trove of furniture, up-cycled items, collectables and a unique selection of beautiful things sourced by the owner, Marelize Crafford. Furthermore, artists of all levels of experience will be happy to know that they can shop for quality art supplies at MEELMUIS & Bonthuys.

MEELMUIS focuses on freshly baked products and is well-known for the sumptuous pizza bases, ‘Roosterkoek’ and other homemade bakes that come out of their oven. The pizza bases and traditional South African ‘Roostekoek’ are available fresh in-store daily, while sourdough bread and other baked goods are on sale each Friday, or on order. A convenient par-baked range is available in the shop every day.  

Added to the bakery is a selection of homemade jams, preserves, sauces and ‘eggstra’ large eggs laid by local hens from the community.
