Ernst and Irma Kriel took ownership of Die Wielhuis in 2018, rebranding and remodelling an existing pub on the premises.
Irma was born and raised in Gansbaai and Ernst arrived from Gordon’s Bay in the late nineties.
Ernst and Irma are well known for their knack for creating successful pubs where people love to meet. In fact, the couple probably holds the title of being the most famous pub owners in Gansbaai’s history. Whether you know the names Ernies Pub and Buitesteen or not, two legendary pubs started by them years ago, Ernst and Irma have been the godparents of good times for over twenty years!
Irma runs the kitchen at Die Wielhuis and says that making sure clients have the best time with happy memories, centres around serving hearty pub grub and affordable drinks.
Ask the couple what they love most about Gansbaai and you will hear all about their love for the locals who support them. Getting to meet travellers from around the globe is also a perk.
The Kriels will also tell you that there is nothing on earth that beats the spectacular sunsets they get to watch from Die Wielhuis!
