So on Friday Norman Eric Fisher went to back to the hospital because the night before he had a bit of a pain in his chest. So to be safe June took him to Hermanus hospital, he had his tests and they think that he might have had a small heart attack…
Well he was released on the Sunday and I was told that he wants to start his training again on Monday… he is such a fighter…
So this morning I went around to his house and he was in such a good mood and we chatted for a little bit and then he was like “well lets get started”.
But I just need to go back a bit with my story… Norman has nerve ending damage in his left shoulder and his movement in that arm has been restricted ever since a fell down before I started working with him, the doctors have told him that it would never get better. He once asked me what I thought and I said that we can only just do exercises and see what happens, so that’s what we did we worked that arm everyday some days were better then others as every now and then he would complain that it was sore…
Over the months he has started to get a better range of motion… But today!! Today his left arm was almost the same as his right arm in the sense of the range of motion that he was getting out of his arm… the look on his face was priceless!!!
Now normally I make him walk up the stairs at his house and since they put up a new banister he has been able to climb the stairs by himself which was a great step for him... But the best part about today was the fact that he used his left arm (the first time he tried it he complained that it didn’t feel comfortable though) but on the way down he walked down the “THE BOSS” and then we tried it again and the second time around the used both arms going up and down… The look on his face was like a naughty little boy that had just done something naughty for the first time and he loved it…
When we finished and he sat back down he was the happiest with himself that I’ve ever seen before… Its great to see how hard he tries I know people that are YEARS younger then he is but his passion for his exercises is really something special to behold…
