Help SHARP Digital today put learners on the digital bus by:

Imagine

  • Imagine what it must be like to have NEVER connected to the Internet. A world without the Internet.
  • Imagine being put in front of a computer for the first time ever and being expected to do something with it. Where would you start?
  • Imagine that you get yourself a smartphone because your friends have one. Would you know what to use it for?

This is the reality for a silent majority of South Africans. Many of them are not on the digital bus, let alone driving it themselves.

More than 27 million South Africans are not connected to the internet. And many of those who are connected or only using it for WhatsApp and sometimes Facebook. In addition, less than 27 million South Africans have an email address and many of them do not know how to use their email. Also, the wealth of other advantages the internet and digital technology gives us is often unreachable to South Africa’s 1st-time users and 1st generation users.

It would be very difficult to learn to drive a car if you had never even travelled on a road before!!

But this huge disadvantage is holding back South Africa’s economy. If you are not on the digital bus in this modern digital age, you simply cannot economically compete in any way. You cannot apply for jobs. You cannot access the knowledge and information many of us take for granted we can find at a touch of our fingertips. You are excluded from just about everything society is doing.

SHARP Digital has started an exciting new project that helps move people into the digital world. They provide the skills and knowledge needed to start to engage with digital technology in a meaningful way. Learners use mobile-based learning and put what they’ve learned into practice using tablets. Learners can also take a user code and do the courses on their own smartphones if they have one.
