Award-winning photographer Jan Bartelsman, specialised in culinary photography, is giving two 3-day professional food photography courses at Farm 215 during early January 2014. Jan Bartelsman has published many photography books as well as restaurant guides such as, “Dining in Amsterdam”, “Dining in New York City” and “Hong Kong and Macau Magic”.
Travelling the world, Jan has photographed countless and diverse dishes. His clients include (to mention a few): renowned chefs around the world, Supperclub restaurant, Intercontinental Hotels, Domaine de La Romanee Conti, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Culinaire Saisonnier and Food Arts Magazine USA.

The meals during this course will be prepared by Dutch Chef and food stylist Cees Nouwens.
The program will consist of lectures and demonstrations but because the group is small (maximum 12) the program is flexible so that individual wishes can be catered for. This course is hand-on and down-to-earth: learning by doing with an expert photographer available while enjoying good food and perfect wines in a relaxed atmosphere and in the middle of the beautiful settings of a pristine nature reserve.
The course is meant for: food bloggers, culinary journalists, chefs who want to take photos of their own food, amateur and professional photographers who want to know more about the tricks of this trade.
This 3-day course will cover: photographic fundamentals and equipment; file types, white balance, exposure, digital cameras, lenses, accessories; lighting (natural and artificial) using reflectors with natural window light and using flash, soft box etc; food styling; basics, tips and tricks, props; editing, postproduction with adobe creative suite, working with raw files, photoshop.
The course will include :
• 3 nights accommodation in a fybos suite or in a homestead room on a first come first serve basis
• 3 X dinner, 3 X breakfast, 2 X lunch
