Gansbaai Academia is a modern and forward-thinking public secondary school bringing higher learning to the community of Gansbaai in English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa. The staff-list includes leaders in the field of teaching and boasts over 20 educators who strive to equip young minds from Grade 8 through to Grade 12 with the essential skills needed to succeed in society. The school’s has a state-of-the-art sports field where regular sporting events are held. Cultural extracurricular activities include talents shows, theatrical productions, beauty pageants and fundraising events that are all showcased and encouraged. A holistic approach to education engages all Gansbaai Academia students in a manner that helps them grow into fully rounded individuals who are equipped to reach their full potential throughout their academic career.

Gansbaai Academia was officially opened to learners of Grade 8 to Grade 12 on the 22nd of February 2010 by the then Premier of the Western Cape, Helen Zille. 

The teaching staff is made up of college professors, lead teachers and newly graduated teachers who all bring with them experience, understanding and a passion for educating youth to the classroom. Always striving for excellence, the teaching and coaching staff leaves no student unguided when it comes to academic, recreational, cultural and spiritual matters.

Marimba Band

Marimba Band

Gansbaai Academia’s Marimba Band made their debut in 2015 and the group has since become well-known icons in the instrumental music industry. One of their most notable achievements was taking part in the International Steelpan & Marimba Festival in Johannesburg, where they won first prize in their category. 

Playing a mixture of traditional African and fairly current reimaginings of popular music, the band performs at school functions, community events, weddings and festivals in-and-around Gansbaai.
