Western Cape police in Hermanas have arrested two suspects following a robbery in the farm in Hemel Aarde Valley. According to the reports,on 2014-04-30 at about 21:35 a 77 year old male and his wife were on their farm at Hemel n Aarde Valley Hermanus. It is alleged that while they were in the House Four male suspects came through the window and threatened them with a Fire-arm and tied them up. Suspects demanded Cellphones, undisclosed cash, pension cards, bank cards and they fled with the complainant’s vehicle (Red Polo Classic). However, the victims the elderly couple was not injured. As they were fleeing, the suspects made an accident at Hemel n Aarde Valley which led to two of them sustaining seriously injuries while the other two escaped the accident scene. Two Suspects 30 and 23 years were arrested and taken to a nearby Hospital for medical treatment. One of the suspects was discharged and the other is still in a critical condition. The vehicle and one Cellphone were recovered by the Police. Police are still looking for the other two Suspects who are still at large. The arrested Suspects will appear in Hermanus Magistrate Court on 2014-05-02 on charges of House Robbery and Theft of Motor Vehicle.
A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF ABALONE SEIZED IN HERMANUS
On 2014-05.03 at about 23:35 the Western Cape police in Hermanus seized a significant amount of abalone. This followed an intelligent driven operation in Hawston which led to the confiscations. With a search warrant they swooped down on the house situated in Chester road where they found a 26 year old female inside with 68 bags of frozen abalone. After the abalone was defrosted it was counted to 6941 (six thousand nine hundred and fourty one).
While the police were still busy loading the abalone, Community members stoned the members and blocked R 43 road and where they also burnt tyres. The arrested suspect will appear in the Hermanus Magistrate Court on Monday 2014-05-05 on charges relating to Possession of abalone. Meanwhile, a docket of Public Violence was also opened for further investigation.
