Blog: Rudolph Smith – new mayor for the Overstrand

Overstrand is the 3rd fastest growing municipality in the Western Cape and 1st in the Overberg district. Gansbaai Courant was present at the council meeting in Hermanus last Friday, when Ald Rudolph Smith was elected as the new Executive Mayor for the Overstrand Municipality. Photographed here by well known photographer, Bernard Jordaan (far right) the new mayor were inaugurated by Member of the Provincial Parliament, Masizole Mnqasela and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Dudley Coetzee.  The speaker, Cllr Anton Coetzee looks on. 

Ald Smith thanked residents  who took the trouble to go and vote on the 3rd of August and for giving the DA the mandate to govern the Overstrand. He mentioned that the exact voting percentage was 64.49%. 

He further said that his Council will endeavour to strengthen partnerships and collaborations with the local private sector and was looking forward to his five year term.
