Every fire, accident or disaster is unique and not like any other before. It is therefore imperative that the Overstrand’s rescue teams, that include the fire department, traffic services, police as well as provincial and private medical personnel, work together as one to reduce damages and keep the loss of life or injury to a minimum.
“By good preparedness, pooling resources and shared experiences, we can serve our communities to greater effect,” says Assistant Fire Chief, Angelo Aplon. This can be achieved through efficient planning, evaluating response tactics, and continual training.
More importantly, personnel and the equipment that are available for emergencies, need to be assessed and tested at regular intervals.
