My Town Hub - a handy, free tool

Gansbaai Courant

A new user friendly cellular phone  application  that is taking the country by storm, is My Town Hub.

Marketed in Gansbaai, Hermanus, Stanford and Bredasdorp by Annie Carter, with Marinda van der Walt of the Gansbaai Courant as licencee.

Marinda’s idea, when she resided to Gansbaai just more than a year ago, was to stretch Gansbaai Courant’s marketing boundaries to the benefit of the newspaper’s clientele.

She started off with a Facebook page for the newspaper.  There after expanded to the publishing platform www. issuu.com and was still looking for something bigger, when My Town Hub was offered to the independent newspaper publishing industry.

A real time saver

My Town Hub is an application developed specifically for mobile devices.  It is all about information at your fingertips by the press of a button - fast, secure and user friendly.

The application can be downloaded at no cost – yes, FREE - from Play Store (Android) or the iStore (Apple).

All one has to do  is to enter an email address, choose the town of preference  and you are connected to information regarding that specific town in the palm of your hand!

Emergency numbers and services, weather, events, restaurants, accommodation, shopping – you name it - can be accessed with ease.

When travelling to another town, the town can be selected from the dropdown menu and the relevant information is immediately available.

The telephone number, address (Google Maps) , Facebook page and website (If applicable) can be accessed straight from the application by pushing the correct icon.

So what’s different?!

Yes,  there are many sites available  with  the  same information.

What makes the application different is that there is no typing involved, no searching for the correct website, number or address.

It is all there – on your cellphone – ready, by the press of a button.

A user said: “I found My Town Hub extremely useful as I travel per road often alone.  Previously, when looking for especially telephone numbers and searching google maps for directions, I had to find a place to stop next to the road or a parking spot in a town.  Searching for the correct website or typing in the correct address on google maps was a tedious and often frustrating excersize.

My Town Hub already has the correct information and Google Maps addresses and all I do is pressing on the icons provided.  Being an application, it is fast and saves not only time but effort.”

Another user’s story: “One morning early, on our way to the airport, a car stood in the middle of the road without any lights on.

I immediately pressed on my app’s emergency numbers icon and could phone the police without searching for numbers.

This is an amazing tool!

All you need to do, is charge the battery of your cell phone.”

Make use of this FREE and handy tool on your phone.  And for your weekly Gansbaai news – it is still brought to you by the friendly editorial staff of the Gansbaai Courant – we stretch boundaries!
