Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre

Launched in April 2008

The Gansbaai Communal Sport Centre was officially opened in April 2008 under the ABSA Spaces for Sports banner.

A public private partnership between the Overstrand Municipality, the Department Cultural Affairs and Sports, the Grootbos Foundation, and ABSA, made the completion of the project possible.

Absa has invested R4.6 million. Overstrand Municipality have provided the land worth in excess of R10 million and a further R1 million (prize money from the Vuna Awards) for the development of the clubhouse. The Overstrand Municipality has also pledged an annual grant of R100 000, that escalates at a rate of 10% per annum, towards the maintenance of the facility.

Other notable contributions to the project have been £75,000 from the Barclays Premier league and R1.5 million contributed by The Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport.
