The team at Gansbaai Health and Active have fast gained a reputation as a force to be reckoned with and regularly send contestants to various transformation and bodybuilding competitions where they do their town proud by bringing back trophies and awards. Last year eight athletes competed at different shows, and of those, five were placed in the top four in their respective divisions. One of the athletes was placed first in her line-up at WP provincials and went on to compete at Nationals in Pretoria.

Pieta Botes is the General Manager and a personal training specialist at Gansbaai Health and Active. Pieta’s warm nature, great sense of humour and his philosophy that “in the gym everyone is equal,” will instantaneously make you feel at home and part of the Gansbaai Health and Active family. Last year, Pieta did Gansbaai proud by winning the number one title at Battle of the Titans, in the division for senior men under 100 kg.
Cobus Briedenhann is the Fitness Manager at Gansbaai Health and Active as well as the gym’s specialised Personal Trainer. Cobus is an experienced bodybuilder who regularly competes in bodybuilding competitions and boasts a string of national and international titles. Holder of a 7th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo, Cobus knows first-hand what it takes to reach the top and will put you through your paces with a structured exercise program that will ensure you reach your fitness or transformation goals. Cobus is also a qualified massage therapist and is on hand to ease all your muscular aches and pains.

Ilze le Roux heads the Admin and Financial Department. Ilze is one of Gansbaai Health and Active’s greatest success stories who steadily worked her way to her transformation dream, and is now studying Personal Training. Expect to be put through your paces in group fitness classes where she will encourage you with her mantra of “hou aan en hou uit!”, to keep you motivated.

Aileen is the group Pilates instructor at Gansbaai Health and Active, and enjoys sharing her knowledge to improve physical strength, flexibility and posture, which in turn enhances mental awareness.
Raya is one of the friendly faces that will be first to welcome you when you arrive for your training session at Gansbaai Health and Active.

Diana is a group fitness instructor and helps out in the spinning, pilates and senior fit classes at Gansbaai Health and Active

Nicola is passionate about gym and has won numerous bodybuilding titles; she is also the group fitness Step Class instructor at Gansbaai Health and Active.

CARDIO CLASSES

Bootcamp:

A firm favourite with exercise enthusiasts of all levels, there are beginners and advanced bootcamp classes where you get to work every single muscle in your body while having a whole lot of fun. Bootcamp encompasses military style, interval training that usually works on a rotation method. The short bursts of exercises will have you begging for mercy but will leave you feeling totally energised.

Step:

A step routine choreographed to music that will keep even the fittest fitness fanatics on their toes. The class combines basic stepping and aerobics together with fitness exercises to ensure that you get a full body workout.

Spinning:

A class that takes you on an indoor cycle ride on stationary spinning bikes, while being motivated by your spinning instructor. Your trainer will simulate cycling on flat roads then coax you up hills and down valleys after which you get to sprint and race. This is undoubtedly the queen of all cardiovascular classes and best of all is you get to do it regardless of the weather.

Yoga

Ball and Stretch:

A gentle class designed to increase your flexibility through a series of movements using the Swiss ball.

Aerobic fit / Body Shape:

A total body workout using dumbbells, aerobic bars, exercise rings, dynabands and a mat. The class begins with a warm up and ends with a gentle cool down.

Pilates:

A tranquil class designed to strengthen your muscles and stabilize your core. Learn the art of precision, control and technique, as you work your way to a better sense of well-being.

Body Strength:

A full-body workout aimed at toning your muscles and increasing your strength. Weights according to your preference are used.
