Mealtimes

The cook's goal is to create delicious dishes that remind the residents at Huis Lambano of the favourites they’ve been cooking and eating their whole lives. Wholesome classics such as boontjie bredie and melkkos often make an appearance on the menu.

Hobbies

The staff at Huis Lambano encourage activities that stimulate the mind, body and soul. Residents spend their days reading, playing a few hands of Gin Rummy, crocheting, listening to RSG, watching Sewende Laan or quite simply, enjoying some quiet time while watching the world go by. Regular movie nights are held where golden oldies are shown and popcorn is served. There is a telescope for those who want to get a closer look at the ocean or the evening stars.

Therapy

The residents at Huis Lambano are encouraged to participate in daily life which means interaction on all levels where possible. The more mobile residents are offered water therapy and calisthenics in the Home’s heated swimming pool.

Family

The owners at Huis Lambano strive to recreate a true home-away-from-home and this philosophy is carried through by encouraging family visits. There is a lovely entertainment room alongside the swimming pool which has an indoor braai, a jacuzzi and a bar. A weekend bring and braai with loved ones makes the drive to Gansbaai so much more memorable. Beloved pets can also visit residents by prior arrangement.

Contact Huis Lambano to discuss the most suitable option for you or for your loved one. Costs start off at around R8,000 per month for full-time residents who are capable of taking care of themselves but need to live in a safe and secure environment. Costs then rise according to the intensity of care and attention needed.

Various homecare services are offered to make sure you or your loved ones are cared for in the comfort of your or their own home. This service is perfect for patients who need help with daily tasks like bathing, wound care and meal preparation. Contact Huis Lambano for pricing of the different services offered.

There are always uplifting projects on the go at Huis Lambano. A proposed Good Samaritan Fund to ensure that an elder will never have to leave the community due to unanticipated changes in their financial status, is currently being discussed for the future. Furthermore, visits by the public by prior arrangement are encouraged. You will be surprised what therapy a large print novel, packet of biscuits, an attentive ear and a friendly smile will do to brighten someone’s day.
