About Us
Kleinzee is an oceanfront guesthouse in a pristine setting offering numerous hiking trails, marine safari's and tranquility. The fully equipped rooms are serviced daily and full breakfast is served on the balcony overlooking the ocean. We are located in the best area for land based whale watching fom August to November. Perched on the limestone cliffs of De Kelders where the Southern Right Whale visits to calve each spring. With three ocean facing suites it is peaceful and private, ideal for lovers of the great outdoors.
Guests enjoy direct access to the cliff path leading to the adjacent Walker Bay Nature reserve less than 1 km away with pristine sandy beaches, a sheltered swimming bay and caves of archaeological interest.
Boat based marine excursions can be arranged for guests departing from the nearby Gansbaai and Kleinbaai harbours. Great White sharks, whales, penguins, seals and dolphins are frequently encountered o the marine safari's.
We are located: 180 km from Cape Town and 45 km from Hermanus.
Our Accommodation
All rooms are ocean facing and en suite with spacious bathrooms. The Honeymoon Suite is on the upper level and the Ocean Suites on the ground floor.
On a clear day breakfast is served on the balcony on the upper level with panoramic views over Walker Bay.
Honeymoon Suite
This room is on the upper level with concertina doors opening the room to a sea facing balcony with endless views. The balcony has a table and chairs. The room is luxuriously appointed with satelite TV, under floor heating, a king size bed, cotton percale linnen and down duvets. The spacious bathroom is open plan with a large bath tub and pebble floor, sea view shower. The toilet is separate.
There is coffee and tea making facilities in the room. Free WiFi. Simply Bee toiletries are provided.
Ocean Suites
There are two ocean facing suites on the ground level. Concertina doors open the rooms onto private balau wooden decks with deckchairs where one can overlook Walker Bay. One room has a king size bed (Strandlopertjie suite) while the other has twin beds (Protea Suite). Down duvets, percale linnen, bar fridges, coffee making facilities, satelite tv and underfloor heating comes standard. The large en suite bathrooms have victorian baths and pebble floor showers. The size of the room with adjoining bathroom is approximately 40m2.
Our Rates
Rates vary between R900 and R1100 per person per night depending on the season and room. This includes daily servicing, tea/coffee/rusks, full english and continental breakfast and free WiFi

Hiking
There is a sea side hiking trail directly in front of the house. The trail leads to the Walker Bay or "Die Plaat" nature reserve, less than 1 km away. In the reserve you will find a sheltered swimming bay, caves of archeological interest and long sandy beaches. We can provide packed picknick back packs and maps for guests.
Horse Riding
We can arrange horse riding on the beaches of the nature reserve for guests.
Marine Excursions
We can arrange boat based whale watching with Ivanhoe Sea Safari's. The boat departs from Gansbaai Harbour, 3 kms away and the trip lasts 2 to 3 hours.
Shark Cage Diving
Shark cage diving operators depart from Kleinbaai Harbour, which is 10 mins drive from Kleinzee Guesthouse. We can arrange this for guests.
Restaurants
Coffee on the Rocks is a sea front coffee shop a short stroll away that serves delicious lunches and cakes. We can also reccommend and book restaurants in Gansbaai for guests.
Wildlife
Panthera Africa big cat sanctuary is a short 25 km drive away in Stanford. View a variety of big cats on 40 hectares of farmland. They have lions (also rare white lions), leopards, jackals, caracals and tigers.
Farm tours
Enjoy wine tasting at a selection of wine farms close by. The town of Stanford is 15 mins drive us and boasts the Birkenhead beer brewery and the award winning Keinrivier Cheese farm with it's beautiful picknick venue.
