De Kelders PRIVATE House is situated in the quaint yet scenic village of De Kelders, Gansbaai, South Africa. 161km from Cape Town, 5km from Gansbaai and 35km from Hermanus. This secluded PRIVATE retreat prides itself on timelessness and tranquility. It is a weary travelers delight.
Owner decorated to inspire, the villa is a true visual delight of South African and International art, furniture and objects.
The villa is an ideal and convenient base from which to explore the wonders and attractions of the Overberg region. Do not miss historic Elim, the charming village of Stanford, the beautiful beaches and fisherman’s cottages of Arniston and the many exquisite award winning boutique wine estates of the area.
The enclosed private garden and private pool area allow visitors to relish in the warmth of the African sun and enjoy some well-earned breathing space.
The villa can be booked for exclusive use, in which case the whole house is at your disposal. Alternatively the rooms can be booked separately and the house will be shared with other amiable travelers also looking for a peaceful retreat.
All rooms lead to the spacious 250m-squared guest area with a full library of books, magazines, DVD’s and CD’s to entertain and provide escape. In winter the large fireplace is the centre of the beautiful lounge, where hours can be spent talking or just sitting and enjoying the luxury of privacy. Many guests have mentioned the villa as a place where they can relax in a homely environment and enjoy personalized home comforts. Guests have the privacy and reign to enjoy the villa as if in their own home.
The connected dining area offers an ambience in which to enjoy freshly prepared local cuisine and aromatic wines. The simple Overberg dinners are made with fresh ingredients that are sourced from local farmers and the sea.
The house is situated on a double plot 200 m from the cliff paths. Its location provides guests with the privacy to view and not to be viewed by passers by.
The 80m squared outside terrace, with BBQ facilities, has a wonderful lounge area to relax in with your favorite book. Breakfast is served at the outside terrace table or at individual smaller tables.
The breakfasts are a highlight for patrons and the owners and staff in the kitchen of the villa prepare nearly all the offerings on the breakfast table.
Accommodation is by prior arrangement only. The villa is unmarked as a guesthouse, assuring the guests complete privacy.
The Suites
De Kelders PRIVATE House offers 3 separate rooms, each with en-suite showers and toilets. The rooms have comfortable lounge areas leading to small private patios.
The spacious comfortable rooms all have ceiling fans and wall mounted eco-friendly heating. Beds are made with 220 Egyptian percale cotton. Hand made toiletries using local fynbos are provided in every bathroom. Plasma TVs and a dvd player with large selctions of dvd’s, magazine and books are offered in every room.
The rooms are available at a very special green season offer from ZAR 690 p/p sharing & ZAR 1250 single to high season rates of ZAR 990 p/p & ZAR1650 for a single room. Exclusive use from ZAR 3900 to R 5000 per day.

The owners and staff of this exclusive PRIVATE retreat take the best of care of their guests to ensure a satisfactory stay. The house and lavish gardens were designed by the owners themselves and have received international acclaim.
Having 25 years of experience in the tourism industry has resulted in discreet service and hospitality from the hosts. Your host is also an acclaimed author and interior designer. He has been published and won numerous awards for his work. He travels often and has a true passion for the work he does. He has been involved in the designing of many restaurants, private residences, guest houses and apartments.
The owners share the villa with 2 cats : Tuluna and Fara, and at last count 223 gold fish.

Views Around the Cliff Paths
200 m from the villa are the cliff paths that follow the marine reserve of Walker bay. The cliffs are known for their spectacular rock formations and view points from which to watch our many whale visitors – June – December. The path leads to De Plaat - a 20 km strecth of private beach where you can relax in the sun, hike or explore the many caves of De Kelders.
