Sharing Is Caring

S.H.A.R.E is a non-profit organisation based in Gansbaai, powered by Pastor Frikkie Zeelie and a strong team of caring volunteers. The organisation serves and assists underprivileged residents and communities in and around Gansbaai. S.H.A.R.E works tirelessly on various projects that include a soup kitchen, housing incentive, preschool education centre and alcohol and drug rehabilitation assistance. To help raise funds to be sustainable, S.H.A.R.E has a charity shop in the centre of Gansbaai that sells pre-loved items donated by the public. Pop in and shop for everything from clothing to furniture and everything in between. Furthermore, the S.H.A.R.E team strives to create warmth in people's lives wherever possible, hosting among others, an annual Christmas celebration for children. Growing S.H.A.R.E would not be possible without the donations and volunteer services shared so generously by the community, and Pastor Zeelie thanks you for your kindness in advance.

About

About

S.H.A.R.E was officially established in 2015 by Pastor Frikkie Zeelie.

Originally from Springs in Gauteng, Pastor Zeelie felt a calling from God to help those in need. He started out by making food hampers for people he knew were having a hard time and would deliver them to their door, first knocking and then quickly running off before they could see him. It was this early work, and a calling from God to take it further, that inspired him to move to Gansbaai and grow S.H.A.R.E.

When he isn’t working on projects for S.H.A.R.E, Pastor Zeelie officiates church services, weddings, christenings, babtisms and funerals at the Gansbaai Aanbiddingsentrum.

In his spare time, Pastor Zeelie enjoys a little quiet time with his wife Mariette, and both of them are at total peace when their three adult children are home for visits.

Projects

Projects

S.H.A.R.E is involved in a full range of projects that aim to uplift the community.

Food Support

In times of need, assistance can be arranged to keep food on the table, and nobody in the community is excluded. This service is provided on request only.

Soup Kitchen

A daily soup kitchen provides over 150 meals to the elderly, disabled and children in the Beverly Hills community just outside Blompark, Gansbaai. In keeping with feeding the hungry, the organization feeds approximately 30 dogs and cats daily.

Housing

Whether due to fire, flood or general deterioration caused by the elements and time, S.H.A.R.E is always there in times of any housing crises. Over the years, countless shacks in Beverly Hills have been rebuilt because the existing shacks were tiny and in desperate need of repair. In some cases, the owners received furniture and bedding. To date, almost 50 new homes have been built for the community with companies like Fynbos Wendy’s and Spar assisting the organisation with donations.

At the Beverly Hills S.H.A.R.E kitchen, a place to stay and activities have been arranged for small play groups of preschool children. The ongoing project is to ensure young preschool children are kept off the streets and to prepare them for school.

Pastor Frikkie, in association with Klein Karoo Bronne Sentrum, has also enabled the training of students to receive diplomas for ECD (Early Childhood Development). Trained teachers have small classes of about 15 children ranging from three to six years of age. The facility is run by Mariette Zeelie, the pastor’s wife.

Special Events

An annual Christmas party is held for approximately 500 children from all areas of Gansbaai. Each child who attends the party receives a healthy meal, cake, ice cream, sweets and toys. Added to these treats are fun activities such as water slides and jumping castles.

Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation

To date, various people with alcohol and drug addiction problems have been assisted with rehabilitation services provided by participating organisations.

Future Projects / Wish List

Future Projects / Wish List

S.H.A.R.E is working hard to expand its current services to include an assisted living centre for the frail and elderly in the community.

Currently, a South African government pension is less than R2,000 per month and that is only awarded if the pensioner is registered with SASSA. Many elderly people fall through the cracks and don’t even receive this amount. Without additional funding, many of our elders end up living in poor conditions and don’t receive the warmth and care they deserve.

Help S.H.A.R.E Establish A Warm Home For Elders In Need

Everyone deserves a warm home with loving caregivers in their golden years. Help S.H.A.R.E make this dream a reality by making a donation towards a future assisted living centre. Remember, every cent goes a long way. Please see the donations page if you would like to help. Alternatively, contact Pastor Zeelie to find out more about this project.

Charity Shop

Charity Shop

Known as the S.H.A.R.E Shop, the charity venture accepts all donations from the public which in turn get sold for funds to help sustain the organisation.

Apart from generating an income, the shop also sells its stock at rock-bottom prices and is frequented by everyone looking for a bargain.
