Attendees also receive a nourishing meal prepared in the centre's on-site kitchen, which runs a meals-on-wheels programme. The involvement of donors, volunteers and partners ensures that Victoria Dienssentrum vir bejaardes endures, safeguarding the well-being of some of the community’s most deserving members. A selection of second-hand clothing is for sale at the centre, and donations of fresh stock are always welcome.

About

Victoria Dienssentrum vir Bejaardes is an initiative of Genadendal Mission Station, the oldest Moravian Mission Station in South Africa, established in 1738.

Founded on 13 July 1989, Victoria Dienssentrum vir Bejaardes has provided care and support to the elderly in Genadendal, Bereaville, Voorstekraal, and Greyton for more than three decades.

The Centre exists to honour the lives and contributions of those who have worked, often for their entire lives, on the surrounding farms in the Caledon and Grabouw districts.

Serving a disadvantaged community where 90% of households earn less than R2,000 per month, the centre has continued to operate thanks to donor contributions and dedicated fundraising.

With ongoing financial assistance, the organisation’s objectives can continue to be met and expanded to benefit future generations.

Victoria Dienssentrum vir Bejaardes is listed as a Service Centre for Older Persons endorsed by the Western Cape Department of Social Development.
