1 October – Day 1 – 27km Mountain and trail run
The day 1 run starts on a 800m section of dirt and tarred road, leading into single track hiking trail for 99% of the remainder. The tracks will contour up toward the top of the Mountain and Fernkloof Nature Reserve, making it possible to actually run most of this climb.
The views are 2nd to none and you will be traversing valleys, ridges and plateaus rich in fynbos, bird life and higher up, the Klipspringer! Kilometer for kilometer this is one of the best trails you’ll ever run along with all its vistas. Start – 08h00
2 October – Day 2 – 18km Coastal adventure
The bus will collect runners from Fernkloof Nature Reserve at 05h40 on Sunday, 4 October and take them to Brekfis beach, Vermont where they will set off from. The trail includes beach sand, rocky areas, coastal paths, boardwalks and the odd, small stream crossing along the way. The scenery will be changing constantly. We will send the gps track to those who would like to run with it on their gps. We will also include a short narrative for sections of the trail and combine all of the above with a few marshals and orange tags to indicate the route. We may start in batches of 20 runners and 2 minutes apart to ensure no bottle necks during the first 2km or so. Once the trail reaches Mossels river, the path then follows the river trail under the main road – eventually finishing at Fernkloof Nature Reserve botanical garden. Start - 06h45
Prize giving for podium winners will be held after day 1 and day 2 individual races for all categories. Spot prize draws will be on day 2.
