The first De Vette Mossel - Beach Seafood Restaurant, was established in the summer of 2004 on an isolated and pristine beach at Groot Brak River near Mossel Bay. Owner, Niël du Bois followed through with his dream of providing seafood lovers with a generous never-ending supply of seafood prepared and served in a laid-back setting.

Over the years De Vette Mossel has grown in popularity and the demand has seen the concept opening throughout South Africa on riverbanks, next to dams and on beaches along the coast.

Your De Vette Mossel Hermanus hosts are local residents, Gustave and Charné du Bois who work under the guidance of Niël (Charné’s father).

“Fantastic! We attended their event at the Bloemfontein Vryfees many years ago and by pure chance saw the sign on the side of the road and promptly made a booking for the first available slot. Take note newcomers! Don't eat the bread at the beginning of the affair. Wait until the last dish is served! A standing ovation to the team at De Vette Mossel Hermanus for creating a truly unique experience with outstanding food and ambience. See you again when we're back in Hermanus!”  Stephan Botha
