De Vette Mossel Hermanus will be closed up until 25th of July 2019.
The first De Vette Mossel - Beach Seafood Restaurant, was established in the summer of 2004 on an isolated and pristine beach at Groot Brak River near Mossel Bay. Owner, Niël du Bois followed through with his dream of providing seafood lovers with a generous never-ending supply of seafood prepared and served in a laid-back setting.
Over the years De Vette Mossel has grown in popularity and the demand has seen the concept opening throughout South Africa on riverbanks, next to dams and on beaches along the coast.
Your De Vette Mossel Hermanus hosts are local residents, Gustave and Charné du Bois who work under the guidance of Niël (Charné’s father).
The menu is a feast of freshly prepared seafood and you are invited to eat as much as you like. This offer excludes prawns and crayfish which are sold separately.
There are nine courses with a total amount of 16 dishes (seafood and traditional accompaniments) that are prepared and presented one after another.
De Vette Mossel is the perfect venue for your next special event or social gathering. Whether you want to ‘tie-the-knot’, celebrate your birthday or host a corporate team building event, it makes sense to do it barefoot, on the beach and with a braai!
Contact Gustave and Charné du Bois directly to customize a magical De Vette Mossel experience that will suit you and your budget.

“Absolutely fantastic. We attended their event at the Bloemfontein Vryfees many years ago and by pure chance saw the sign on the side of the road and promptly made a booking for the first available slot. Take note newcomers! Don't eat the bread at the beginning of the affair. Wait until the last dish is served! A standing ovation to the team at De Vette Mossel Hermanus for creating a truly unique experience with outstanding food and ambience. See you again when we're back in Hermanus!” Stephan Botha
“Too much nice will have to do it twice!” Mariska du Plessis
“Best seafood pot and calamari ever.” Fanie du Plessis
