Die Plaaskombuis sits in the stunning Hemel-en-Aarde Valley on the Lötter family farm, Vrede (which means “Peace” in Afrikaans).
Nita and Jadri Lötter took over Vrede from Jadri’s father, Bernardus, in 1978. Nita had always dreamed of running a farm stall, and together they made it happen. Back then, Jadri would load their fresh vegetable harvest into a classic 1963 blue Chevrolet truck and drive it all the way to the market in Cape Town.
Today, Die Plaaskombuis is a favourite stop for anyone looking for country charm. And yes, that same beloved Chevy is still on the farm, working just as hard as the other vehicles.
Die Plaaskombuis is all about hearty country cooking and delicious meals prepared with fresh ingredients.
The à la carte menu has a mouth-watering selection of breakfast dishes, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, salads and generous portions of traditional South African fare.

There is also a large outdoor kids play area, as well as a smaller indoor one, ensuring the kids are thoroughly entertained during your visit. The food was flavorful and satisfying, and the service was friendly and efficient, only adding to the overall experience.
