Die Plaaskombuis lays nestled in the beautiful Hemel-en-Aarde Valley on the Lötter family farm named Vrede (which translated into English from Afrikaans means, ‘peace’).
Nita and Jadri Lötter took ownership of Vrede from Jadri’s father, Bernardus, in 1978. Nita had always dreamt of owning a farmstall and together with her husband began working towards realising it. Using an old blue classic 1963, Chevrolet Truck, Jadri would drive their harvest of vegetables to the market in Cape Town.
Today, the farm is home to Die Plaaskombuis which has become a ‘farmstall’ destination for all those who love farm-style cooking, fine wines, fresh country produce and home-baked goods. Coupled with this is the opportunity to host your next function at the farm.
And, if you were perhaps wondering, the much-loved Chevy is still in use on the farm and puts in a full day's work, just like all the other farm vehicles do.
The Lötter Family invite you to join them for good old-fashioned hospitality in a picturesque setting.
Die Plaaskombuis is all about wholesome meals prepared with fresh locally grown and produced ingredients. Expect a mouth-watering selection of breakfast dishes, wraps, burgers, sandwiches, salads and generous portions of traditional South African fare. For the little ones, a kiddies’ menu featuring all the favourites is available. Sweet temptations include freshly baked desserts, homemade cakes and ‘lekker pannekoek’.
Added to this is a special Sunday lunch menu not to be missed.

The family has a wine philosophy that embodies simplicity and minimal interference, with a focus on showcasing the Hemel-en-Aarde terroir and varietal. This has resulted in wines that develop beautifully with age but are elegant enough to be enjoyed immediately on release.
