Dr Juan de la Cruz and his team, Carolyn de la Cruz and Evidence Chawanda, are passionate about serving the community.
Dr Juan RG de la Cruz was born and raised in Cape Town. After completing his medical studies in 2004, he interned at Tygerberg Hospital in 2005.
In 2006, he began his medical service at Gordonia Hospital in Upington, followed by a four-year internship at Lady Michaelis Community Health Centre (CHC) in Plumstead, Cape Town.
Dr Juan returned to Upington at Dr Harry Surtie Hospital in 2013
In 2023, he realised his dream and opened his medical practice in Hermanus.
Carolyn is Dr Juan’s sister and is often the first friendly face you will see on arrival.
When her brother decided to open his practice, Carolyn immediately got involved to help get things up and running. From time spent hunting for the perfect space and decorating the interior to her outstanding administration and people skills, her passion for what she does is evident.
Carolyn works closely with Evidence, and she strives to empower her colleague with administrative skills.
Evidence was born in Zimbabwe and moved to South Africa in 2015.
After doing temporary work in Hermanus, she met Carolyn and joined Dr Juan’s team.
Alongside keeping the practice neat and welcoming, Evidence greets patients on arrival and assists Carolyn with general administrative duties.
Her role helps ensure that the practice runs smoothly and that patients feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door.
