Residents living in Kleinmond and Gansbaai can make EFT payments to renew their motor vehicle registration discs. Currently, these discs would have to be collected in Hermanus as the local offices do not have the capacity to print the discs. For your convenience, it has been decided that discs would be delivered to the respective offices to be collected there as from Monday 25 January 2021.
Licence discs could be collected within 5 - 7 workdays after payment has been made. Proof of payment is required when collecting the licence disc. If the disc is to be collected by persons other than the owner, a letter of authorisation stating the registration number and the authorisation of the person (full names as on ID) doing the collection is required as well as a certified copy of the licencee’s ID and the ID of the person doing the collection.
Please pay the correct amount into the Overstrand Municipality primary bank account and use the relevant car registration number as a reference and add GB (if you are collecting the discs from Gansbaai) or KMD (if you are collecting the discs from Kleinmond). This will make it easier for staff members to allocate the printed disc to the correct town.
It is important that the correct details are entered when making EFT payments in order to ensure a speedy transaction.
Traffic Services request the public to ascertain the correct amount due by phoning them on 028 313 8175/8031/8166 (Hermanus Traffic), 028 384 8339 (Gansbaai Traffic) or 028 271 8400 (Kleinmond Traffic) before making an EFT payment.
Currently there is only one cashier on duty at the Traffic offices in Gansbaai and Kleinmond. They do not have the capacity to answer the telephone and assist clients. To ease this burden Kleinmond residents who want to pay via eft to may send their vehicle registration number to Cllr Grant Cohen at grantcohen25@gmail.com. He will give the compiled list to the traffic department on a daily basis. Once he has received the amount to be paid, he will email it to you.
The same procedure applies in Gansbaai and vehicle registration numbers can be emailed to info@gansbaaitourism.co.za. Gansbaai residents are requested not to go to the Gansbaai Tourism office to give their registration number, only emails, please.
• Please, do not pay a random amount into the bank account. An incorrect amount will need to be investigated and will cause further delays.
• Always use your car licence number as reference number e.g CEM XXXX (remember to add GB or KMD as well).
• Remember to take your proof of payment with you, when collecting the disc.
• Remember to keep a copy of your proof of payment in the relevant car until you receive your licence disk - keep your expired disc on your window in the meantime.
