“Where the mountains tower majestically over the glistening bay,
Where the gentle surge of the sea laps against the rocks,
Where the gulls cry and swoop over the colourful fishing boats,
In the hustle and bustle of Hermanus New Harbour,
The Quayside Cabin awaits you.”
Quayside Cabin first opened in 2003. Over the years it has become a popular harbour restaurant destination with Hermanus locals and tourists alike.
Herman van Tonder took ownership of Quayside Cabin in 2022, after relocating to Hermanus from Limpopo with his wife, Karlien.

“Quayside Cabin is the perfect little spot! After getting to know the people the restaurant has become one of my favourites in Hermanus. Amazing food and what a great team! A must-do if you are in the area. The views are awesome!” Timothy Knight
“Quayside Cabin is one of our favourite restaurants in Hermanus. Such a quaint restaurant with great service and delicious seafood. Very relaxed atmosphere. We love it!” Olive Notzon
“If you are looking for a good seafood place in Hermanus, then the Quayside Cabin is the place for you. They have a large selection of dishes to choose from. As we were a group of six we decided to go for the platter for six. It was definitely the right decision. Firstly it looked impressive when it arrived, and secondly, it was packed with a great selection of seafood and sides, so everyone could get a taste of everything. There was so much that we struggled to finish it all. We saw some of the smaller platters going to other tables and they also looked pretty good. The restaurant is located in the new harbour and is quite small so I definitely recommend that you make a booking, especially if you go in summer. The restaurant is decorated in a true rustic sea-cabin style and has a very energetic atmosphere and buzz. We had such a great time that I am sure we will be back there soon. This is a hidden gem, off the beaten track and a must for seafood lovers.” Dewald Reinke
“Quayside Cabin is a hidden gem in Hermanus. The food is amazing and the service is great! We took our family from Gauteng there and had a whale of a time while the kids played. You just have to try their giant seafood platter! Value for money and delicious!” Nelia Coetzee
“When these people say fresh, they mean it! This was one of the best-grilled cobs I have ever eaten. Quayside Cabin is small, with a cosy atmosphere. Prices are reasonable and the staff very friendly. Highly recommended!” Ricardo Rossouw
