What is an alarm system?

An intruder alarm system is designed to detect intruder presence at your premises. When detected, an audible device will be activated and communicate an alarm signal to our local highly sophisticated Monitoring centre, from where an appropriate response will be coordinated. Intruder systems can be either hard wired or wireless.

The purpose of an intruder alarm system is:

1. To protect the physical assets and people within a premise.

2. To deter crime and vandalism.

3. To ensure a prompt armed response service is dispatched in response to an alarm signal.

Commonly utilised detection devices include:

Passive Infra-Red Sensors (PIR’s) - is the “eyes” of the alarm, we offer microwave, digital and dual technology PIR’s that are either wall or ceiling mounted. Most of our PIR’s, although not all, are also pet immune, an important factor that causes false alarms

* Control unit - this is the “brain” of the system, it receives signals from the various devices and reacts accordingly, but like any car/computer it must be serviced regularly and upgraded from time to time.

* Break glass sensors - this is the “ears” of the alarm and can warn you when windows are being broken.

* Smoke and heat detectors - they are the alarm’s “nose” and can detect fires in an early stage and warns us about it.

* Door and window magnetic contacts - these simple devices will notify us when a door or window is forced open.

* Panic Buttons - whether fixed or remote, help can be summonsed 24/7 with the press of a button.

* External beams and outdoor passives for early detection and warning.

The key to effective alarm systems is the careful selection and placement of the detection devices, to best suit the environment and risk level. It is also important to have the alarm set up so that it can be used even when you are at home, our digital control units allow you to have various “STAY ARMED” profiles pre-programmed to suit your lifestyle.
