Jean Daneel Wines are an example of a small family business with Jean-Pierre, the eldest son as head winemaker and manager, his wife Daleen heading marketing and sales countrywide and Marchand the youngest son in charge of sales in the Western Cape. Jean has no desire to retire so he is consulting in the valley as well as overseeing the vineyards with Renee cooking her typical Mediterranean style food to serve to guests on the verandah of their home on the farm.
Jean felt like a pioneer when he arrived in the valley but his belief in this area has proved him right. The attraction to Napier for Jean was the influence of the two oceans meeting at L’Agulhas so far south which inevitably has a climatically influence that contributes positively to the quality of the wine.
The Initial Range as well as the Signature Sauvignon Blanc are all Wine of Origin Napier from 2013. For Jean Daneel Wines, it is a dream come true in a glass of wine.
