My name is Mandy Gardner, I moved to the Overberg 7 years ago. The surroundings inspired me to try to capture the beauty of the ever-changing colours and dramatic weather patterns. The overriding theme of my art is hope, whilst my motto is to spread hope and joy through art. I specialise in the medium of acrylic and use bright, vibrant colours to bring a sense of joy to the viewer. I have my art on display at Arniston Spa Hotel, and the tourism office in Bredasdorp. I sell my wine bottle bags and happy cat bags, all painted individually by hand, at Vindigo Wine and Decor in Napier. My art fridge magnets, depicting some of my original paintings, are on sale at the Napier Farm Stall, and at Napier All Sorts. I am currently busy with my legacy project, which entails painting all the Dutch Reformed churches in the Overberg and Overstrand. I then personally hand them over to the local priest. The church can elect to keep the painting and to display it somewhere, or to raise much-needed funds by raffling it off at the church bazaar or by selling it via an online auction. This is a project very close to my heart, as the church is the centre of every small village.
