Jack Hammer has been pounding down the highway since 1984 with Piet Botha always being the one constant factor in the band.
During the 1990’s they opened for Deep Purple and Uriah Heep on their “Masters of Rock” tour and were also privileged to be the supporting act for ZZ Top on their South African tour. With numerous albums and thousands of miles, Jack Hammer is showing no signs of slowing down.
The current band line-up consists of Piet Botha and Johnathan Martin on guitar, Tertius du Plessis on bass, Paul van de Waal on drums and Jake Gunn as honorary fifth member, also on guitar. 2016 saw them releasing their 12th album, titled- A Handful of Rain. This album comes after many years spent touring and is an ode to the road, a book of songs, a collection of quiet reflections of a man looking back on his life as a touring musician. Songs of rivers, highways and impossible love: these are the main motifs of this Jack Hammer album.
