Self-catering cottage in Pringle bay

A cosy cottage that is quiet and tranquil, situated inside the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, in Pringle bay, walking distance from the main beach and Buffels River.

Sandy Bottoms Cottage has three bedrooms, and two bathrooms, one ensuite , the bedrooms comprise of , main bedroom with a queen bed, downstairs bedroom with one three quarter bed , and upstairs bedroom with two single beds, accommodating up to 5 people max. Linen for the beds and bath towels are provided. Guests will have to bring their own beach towels.
There is a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and living room and dining room area with a fireplace. There is a TV and access to DSTV at and additional cost per day.
Guests have access to a garden , shaded by a beautiful tree, at the seating area, where a portable braai/BBQ will be available if required. The cottage is child friendly, there is a lovely lawn for children to play, however the premises is not fenced, regret no pets allowed.

Pringle bay, is an hour's drive from Cape Town, along the magnificent scenic Clarence drive between Gordon's Bay and Hermanus in the Western Cape.

There are many activities to do in the area, such as, hiking, cycling, fishing, wine farms, visiting the penguins in Betties bay, our local lamas around the corner ,to name a few, and there is a lot of beauty to be seen in this area, with lots of fynbos and birdlife and wildlife.

Terms and Conditions

TV and DSTV available, DSTV, can be provided on request ,at an additional cost of R 45 a day. Please take care when moving the TV on the wall mounted bracket.
Please bring your own Beach towels, bathroom towels will not be allowed to be used on the beach.

PETS are not permitted. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees.
This is a NON SMOKING Cottage; we ask that if you smoke ,you do so outside and please dispose of your ash and cigarette ends responsibly, there is a container with sand provided , next to the bench on the patio . We reserve the right to seek compensation (including consequential loss) for any damage and additional costs of cleaning (such as curtains etc.) caused by a guest smoking in the cottage. Consequential costs may be incurred where it is not possible to remove the smell of smoke from the cottage prior to the arrival of the next guest who subsequently demands compensation from us.

When having a Braai/BBQ, please ensure that the fire is NEVER left unattended, and that the embers are extinguished afterwards. Having a braai/BBQ in strong wind conditions is discouraged, This is due to the property being situated in a high fire risk area.
No loud music or parties will be permitted. This is a quiet and tranquil area, consideration for residents in the area must be respected.

Baboons: If you are not at the cottage please close all doors AND windows. They have been known to come in through the burglar bars and small spaces. Please do your best to make them feel unwelcome and do NOT give them any food!
Refuse Bins: On arrival please check that kitchen bin and outside bin have bin-bags. Extra bags are in the hall cupboard.
- When leaving, please take the bin bags to the refuse and recycling depot at the entrance to Pringle Bay(about 200m from the turn off to Pringle Bay off the main road to Betty’s Bay)
There are two extra plastic chairs, and cushions provided to be used outside if needed, kindly bring these items back in if not in use/at night, to prevent them being blown away or getting wet. Please do not use any other cushions /pillows or chairs that are inside the cottage for outside use, other than the above mentioned items.


CARE OF THE PROPERTY – The Guest shall take all reasonable and proper care of the property and its furniture, pictures, fittings and effects in or on the property and leave them in the same state of repair and in the same clean and tidy condition at the end of the rental period as at the beginning. You will be liable for the cost of any damages, breakages, losses and any extra cleaning or repair costs which are incurred due to non-compliance with this condition.

Failure to inform us that all was NOT in a good state of repair at the time of occupation shall be deemed to be an acknowledgement on the part of the Tenant that all was in a good state of repair at time of occupation.

WHEN LEAVING THE PROPERTY:
• Please leave the house in a state in which you would like to find it.
• Report any damage done to property or its contents, beyond normal wear and tear.
• Report any breakages or lost or damaged linens or household effects prior to departure and either replace by yourselves with a like for like item, or we will replace the items from your deposit. Please note that our time and fuel will also be taken into account.
• Take all debris, rubbish bags, recycling bags and discards up to the rubbish dump at the entrance to Pringle Bay on departure.
• Clean soiled dishes, glasses and cutlery and replace in their cupboards and drawers.
• Returned all keys as directed.
• All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to departure.

PAYMENT – a Deposit payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required to secure the reservation once availability has been confirmed. A refundable breakage deposit of 20% or R 1 000 (which-ever is the greater) is payable in addition to the total rental to secure the booking. The breakage deposit will be refunded after inspection of the property and paid within 10 days of your departure subject to no damages and breakages. The remaining balance, is due 2 weeks before arrival date. If booking is made less than two weeks before arrival, full rental must be paid when booking. Please make payments via cash or bank transfers. Bank details are provided.

A minimum of a 2 night’s stay and a minimum of a 3 night’s stay during long weekends. During December and January there is a minimum of 10 night’s stay. In Season rates are for December and January as well as all long weekends and school holidays. Out of Season rates apply during all other times.

Electricity to the amount of R150 is provided. If more is required top up is available at the local Mini-Mart which is payable by the holiday maker.

Arrival times are between 14.00 and 18.00 , but please advise us if your arrival will be after 18.00. Departure time is 10:00 , financial penalties apply for late departure unless prior arrangement has been made and extra payment received.


CANCELLATIONS – No show or cancellation within 14 days of stay – No refund due .
Cancellation between 15 and 30 days before stay – 25% of the deposit will be refunded. Cancellation between 60 and 30 days before stay – 50% of the deposit will be refunded
Cancellation more than 60 days before stay – full refund.
MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of guests is limited to five (5) persons for the whole Cottage, and this must not be exceeded. No day visitors are allowed, unless the booking is for more than 7 days.

Be aware that there permanent residents and sound carries, so please be respectful of the needs of others , no loud music or excessive noise ,that would disturb the peace of this area.

NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE A maid service is not included in the rental rate. There is also no washing machine, there is a laundromat in the village.

FALSIFIED BOOKINGS – Any booking obtained under false pretence will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in.

WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance.

INDEMNITY AND SAFETY – All persons entering Sandy Bottoms Cottage including the grounds, do so entirely at their own risk and indemnify the owners, their employees and agents and shall have no liability whatsoever for any injury to or death of any person, or loss of or damage to any property of the guest, howsoever caused even arising from negligence of any degree. Guests must accept responsibility for their own and their children’s safety.

WATER AND SEPTIC –The tap water is drinkable. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine products should be flushed at any time. If it is found that feminine products have been flushed and clog the septic system, you could be charged damages. These septic systems have natural organisms that live inside them therefore please only use the cleaning products provided .or if you feel that you need a product that we have not supplied please ensure it is friendly to septic tanks.
