The Klein River

Alpha Sierra Adventures will take you on an unforgettable tour of the Klein River.

The Klein River is home to a thriving ecosystem that includes an abundance of fauna and flora. 

As you paddle along the river you become part of a natural landscape with over 120 bird species that include fish eagles, pink flamingos, blue cranes and Egyptian geese. Listen out for hadedas crying overhead as you keep an eye out for otters, turtles, bontebok and horses along the banks of the river as you make your way toward the lagoon.

 

Kayaking Tours

Alpha Sierra Adventures’ pre-booked trips are weather dependant and departure times are usually at 9:00, 12:00 and 15:00. 

Tour Capacity: six paddlers (two people per kayak/ maximum of 170kg per kayak)
Cost: R450 per person 
Fitness Level: Moderate
Distance: approximately 4.5km

Included:

• Snacks
• Bottled Water
• Soft Drinks (summer)
• Hot Chocolate or Coffee (winter)
• Safety Gear (SAMSA approved personal flotation device)

 What to Bring:

• Sunscreen

Kayaking Weekends

Alpha Sierra Adventures is your ticket to a weekend of outdoor fun! Paddle on the Klein River and across the Hermanus lagoon, overnighting in the comfort of a beautiful cottage on the lagoon’s edge, hike amongst fynbos and through milkwood forests and experience the fish eagles and flamingos in their natural habitat.

Tour Capacity: six paddlers (two people per kayak / maximum of 170kg per kayak)
Cost: R2,800 per person 
Fitness Level: Moderate

Weekend Includes:

• Two nights accommodation
• Five  meals

Weekend Kayaking Itinerary:

Friday Afternoon

• Arrive at your overnight cottage on the edge of the Hermanus lagoon

Saturday 

• Transport from overnight location to Stanford village
• Paddle 13km from Stanford village, downriver and across the Hermanus lagoon and back to your overnight cottage
• Fynbos hike on a private farm

Sunday Morning

• Fish eagle and flamingo viewing by kayak on the Hermanus lagoon
