Under the direction of Brett and Wade Sander, Brunia has been transformed into a mixed farming organic and biodynamic operation. The farm stretches over 417-hectares and includes vineyards, fig tree orchards and seasonal organic vegetable patches.
The re-development of the farm, through the conversion to organic and biodynamic practices in the vineyard, has been an arduous journey since the acquisition of Cold Mountain Vineyards in 2016.
Cultivars that are best suited to the environment have been planted and these include sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, chardonnay, sémillon and syrah. Whilst the sauvignon blanc grapes are the oldest grapes on the farm, real potential has been noticed in the younger pinot noir and chardonnay vines.
Vast tracts of pristine fynbos on the farm are home to a diversity of plant and animal species, including the rare Brunia laevis, more commonly known as Silver Brunia, which lends its name to the wineries range of exclusive boutique wines.
