About

Casa Cello was started by Jose at Stanford Hills Wine Estate in 2024.

Jose was drawn to the kitchen from an early age, where he eagerly helped his mother with every meal she prepared. The kitchen became his playground, and food became his passion. He found joy in the sizzle of a pan, the aroma of fresh herbs, and the simple pleasure of sharing a meal with loved ones.

Jose’s love for food is deeply passionate, a fire kindled by those early experiences with his mom and further fueled by his mother-in-law, who inspired him to embrace culinary traditions and create dishes that tell a story. Her influence taught him that food is an expression of love, culture, and history, and this understanding continues to shape his approach in the kitchen.

Today, Jose’s culinary creations celebrate his heritage and the lessons learned from the remarkable women in his life.

Picnic Baskets

Casa Cello offers more than a seated dining experience, the warm hospitality spills out onto the lawn at Stanford Hills Estate for lazy picnics al fresco.

Whether it's a romantic picnic for two or a group get-together, Jose will custom prepare a picnic basket filled with delicious, carefully curated treats (and wine, don’t forget the wine)!

Guests will be served on the lush lawn next to the pond, creating a laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere. To make the experience even more comfortable, guests are encouraged to bring blankets to spread out on the grass. This way, you can fully immerse yourself in the serene outdoor setting while savouring your feast.

This estate lawn offers something for everyone to enjoy, featuring a children's park where kids can run, play, and explore, all within easy view.

Stanford Hills Wine Estate

Casa Cello restaurant is set on Stanford Hills Estate. 

Stanford Hills Estate produces a collection of wines that include sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, rose, pinotage, shiraz and selected blends. The estate shop sells wine, craft beer, artisanal gin, deli-style products and other odds-and-ends. 

If you want to spend more time at the estate, the immaculately preserved Manor House, two refurbished labourers’ cottages, and eight fully-fitted AfriCamp tents provide comfortable self-catering accommodation. 

Stanford Hills Estate is available for private functions and regularly hosts live music concerts and festivals. Read more here.
