Eikenhoff Orchid Nursery

Growing perfection in every pot.

Eikenhoff Orchid Nursery is a speciality plant nursery situated on a farm alongside the Papiesvlei / Elim Road just outside Stanford (just off the R326). Eikenhoff Orchid Nursery grow and breed Orchids for the South African pot plant industry. Although they carry a rather large range of the various orchids (thousands upon thousands of them, in fact), their main focus and passion are cymbidiums which are a genus of beautiful and rather easy to care for indoor orchids. The plants are sold en masse to large nurseries, garden centres and well-known retail outlets. The general public can visit the farm by appointment and small orders for private orchid collectors are always welcome. The much anticipated Open days are held once a month, from April/May until Sept/Oct, where Orchid lovers are invited to visit the Nursery and stock up on plants, potting mix and receive expert advice from the Eikenhoff Orchid team.

Too far to visit - no problem! Their website (www.eikenhoff.com) has an online shop and they courier nationwide!

About

Pierre Martheze has been growing orchids since he was 13 years old. Now, together with his wife Debra, his parents and a small, close-knit team of staff, takes care of one of the most scenically beautiful Orchid Nurseries in South Africa. Eikenhoff Orchid Nurseries ‘stars’ can be found at some of South Africa's biggest orchid shows, such as the Tygerberg Autumn Orchid show and The Cape Orchid Society Autumn Show held at Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. It is here that beauties such as Oncidium Serendipity "Yellow Mellow", Aliceara Patricia McCully “Pacific Matriarch” and Oncostele Tan Treasures "Lavender Picotee" show their pretty little faces to orchid enthusiasts, who flock from all around the country to see them.
