Raka Supports Race to Stanford
The Race to Stanford triathlon is in its second year and it is coming to Stanford on Saturday 10 November.
The people of Stanford and surrounding towns are invited to the first Wielie Walie trail run that will be held at Raka Wine this coming Saturday 26 January. The organisers aim to make this an annual event.
Participants can choose between a 6km (R80 entry fee) or 10km (R100) route around the vineyards and through the fynbos, with beautiful views of the Kleinriver Valley, the Akkedisberg mountains and the wheatfields of the Overberg, stretching out towards Riviersonderend and the Langeberg. They will see flora and may even encounter fauna like amphibians and reptiles and certainly birds.
While participants battle it out, supporters can make themselves at home on the lawn or stoep, or taste wine in the tasting room. There will be food and drink stalls, music and kids entertainment in the form of a jumping castle, playpark and face painting.
The Wielie Walie Playschool has been going for a long time, some of the parents were in Wielie Walie themselves some 30 years ago.
There are prizes up for grabs by ladies and men winners as well as a lucky draw. These were generously sponsored by local businesses with PSG Wealth, Swellendam being the main sponsor. PSG also made the medals available.
The trail has been tested, everything is 100%, we are just waiting for you.
So, put on your running shoes, take a jog or walk on the wild side and enjoy a relaxing fun day in the country!
