Sunset is a magical time of day here at Panthera Africa, and we love sharing this sacred time with our four-legged friends! We would like to invite you and your guests to join in this unique experience and you may even hear and see the lions roar!

Come and enjoy the early evening with your loved ones as the sun sets and the cats come alive after a long day of rest!

Your passionate host will take you around to the big cat enclosures and tell you their heartfelt stories, and how they came to be at Panthera Africa. Learn interesting and important facts about each species and the big cat industry as a whole. Enjoy the unique atmosphere as you observe and photograph the big cats at this enchanted time.

Duration: 2 hours. Cost: R 490 per person (no under 13 years old).

Can't make it on a Saturday? We can arrange a special sunset visit for you and your loved ones on another evening in the week. Please book 3-4 days in advance. Subject to availability. 

Bring your camera, wear sturdy and comfortable shoes for your walking experience and bring a jacket for cold weather/wind.

Panthera Africa is a non-profit company with Section 18A Tax exemption status. All the proceeds from ticket sales goes towards the animals and creating a better life for them. All the animals were rescued from breeding facilities, and circuses. 

How to find us

Stanford is situated in the heart of the Cape Whale and White Shark Coast about 140km from Cape Town, and is easily reached by car (1hr, 45 min).

You have the choice of two amazing yet very different routes.

Route one - Mountain pass

  • Follow the N2 from Cape Town to Somerset West. Enjoy the Journey over Sir Lowry's Pass, through Elgin Valley.

Route two - Ocean view

  • Follow the N2 from Cape Town to Somerset West. Turn off onto the R44 to Gordon's Bay and follow the magnificent coastline road.

Both routes join up with the R43 that leads you towards and through Hermanus to Stanford. When entering Stanford make a left onto the R326 towards Caledon / Riviersonderend. Continue on the tar road for approximately 4km and make a right turn towards Papiesvlei. Continue on the gravel road for 3.5km till you see the Panthera Africa sign on your right. Drive 1.3km, through the neighbouring farm, and follow the signs to the entrance.
