About

Since its inception in 1982, The Toy Run has gained a following that keeps growing as the years go by. 

Each year, traditionally at the end of November or the beginning of December, tens of thousands of bikers rally together country-wide to give joy to the needy children of South Africa. Thousands of toys are collected and strapped to the bikes and paraded along routes to the various collection points.

Toy Run Overberg is proud to be part of The National Toy Run.

In 2014, Stanford biker Karl Van Zyl launched The Toy Run Overberg to benefit the region's underprivileged children. 
 

Donations

Toy Run Overberg is a charity close to the heart of bikers, many of whom are just big ol’ teddy bears themselves. Apart from their own donations of soft toys and money, the incentive also receives support from local Lions and Rotary organisations. Working together as a team means that much-needed toys and educational gifts reach underprivileged children in Overberg towns that include Gansbaai, Baardskeerdersbos, Elim, Bredasdorp, Napier, Karwyderskraal, Tesslersdal and Hermanus.

Your Donation Makes A Difference

Donations are also welcomed from non-bikers, with many Overberg towns having drop-off points where the public can bring along a fluffy toy or two. Remember your contribution will bring joy and comfort to the child to who it is gifted.

Toy Run Overberg’s starting points and departure times are as follows:

Hermanus

Departure Time: 9:00

Starting Point: McDonald’s Whale Coast Mall

Route: Via Hemel-en-Aarde to Caledon

Caledon

Departure Time: 10:00 

Starting Point: Caltex Petrol Station (outside Caledon Casino)

Route: R316 to Caledon, turn off to Stanford on the R326 at Van Brakel Stoor

Gansbaai

Departure Time: 9:00

Starting Point: Wimpy at The Great White Shark Mall

Route: Via Elim to Bredasdorp

Bredasdorp

Departure Time: 10:00

Starting Point: Crystal Life Water Shop at The Pavilion Mall

Route: R316 to Caledon, turn off to Stanford on the R326 at Van Brakel Stoor

Please note, that there will be starting marshalls at the starting points and clear instructions will be shared that include a:

• Traffic Updates (from the Traffic Department)
   

End Point Celebration

Toy Run Overberg’s endpoint is at the Birkenhead Brewery in Stanford. 

Bring your family and friends and enjoy a fun-filled day in nature on the sprawling estate, which will host vendors that will include:

• Retail (ranging from clothing and crafts to biker gear and accessories)
• Food
• Beverage
