We tell you about our children but we don't tell you much about the staff - five remarkable women. We want to remedy that starting this August - with Louise.
Many of the children have no one responsible to take care of them during the holidays and little or no food so the school stays open and the teachers are on duty. Zaan, the principal tries to ensure each member of staff gets a few days off because although they are only supervising the children and not teaching it's still demanding work.
After breakfast the children sit down together and choose what they would like to do that morning. This involves quite a bit of discussion as everyone has a say and the majority vote decides the activity. It's a good lesson in democracy.
