September 2024 Pikkewyntjies / Penguinkidz Ne...
In this month's newsletter, we celebrate our remarkable alumni, including three former Pikkewyntjies kids.
This year, we were once again privileged to have Our Angel set up another challenge but a second Angel from the UK joined in, raising the challenge amount to R75 000.00. A very big Thank-You to everyone who donated money, offered words of encouragement and just shared their love with our staff and school. We were thrilled to learn that we had raised the challenge amount plus a little bit extra. To our 2 Angels, let's call them Angel T & C and Angel P & R, thank you for your trust in our school and children and, once again, for your amazing generosity and willingness to help us.
We were so blessed to receive a donation of veggie plants from HAPPY PLANTS and BOUHANDEL. HAPPY PLANTS also donated compost and tree bark. Thank you so much guys, you are awesome... since I planted them, our tomato plants are already bearing fruit.
This month, 2 wonderful ladies volunteered to do some reading programmes with these 2 groups of children.
Mandi Fourie from Little Readers visits our Grade R kids once a week to help them learn their letters and later in the year, to read.
Linda Briers from DOEN EN LEER is helping the children up to the age of 10 years in the Mooi Uitsig Community. Unfortunately, some of them are in Grade 4 already and still can’t read at all. Hopefully, by the end of the year, all of them will be up to standard. Money from the challenge will be used for this specific program.
Thank you, once again, to everybody who donated either money or in kind. We are in dire need of winter clothing for our Charity Shop - if you have any, please contact me on (073) 572-8120 or Gloria on (082) 442-5544.
