Here’s a brief overview of our latest newsletter:
Important Dates:
• 25-26 October: Tennis Tournament (Swellendam)
• 1 November: Jo Black performance with BD’s in the church hall (8:00 - 10:00)
• 2 November: Cricket u.19A vs HS Hottentots Holland
Budget Meeting: The budget meeting is scheduled for 12 November at 18:00 in the school hall. Budget proposals will be available for review in Mrs. Wessels's office starting 29 October.
Staff News:
• Mr. Piet Smit, our debtor clerk, will be leaving on 31 October after 12 years of dedicated service. We wish him a fulfilling retirement.
• Ms. Estelle Genis has resigned after 7 years as an RTT educator. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
Academics:
• Congratulations to Luché Fredericks (Grade 9) and Mary-Joy Smith (Grade 8) for their outstanding performances at the Western Cape Abacus Regional Competition on 19 October. Both qualified for the international competition in South Korea in 2025!
• Prestige Awards: On 15 October, we honoured the Grade 12 class and top achievers in culture and sports for their exceptional achievements.
Cultural Highlights:
• Malienke van Wyk (Grade 9) excelled at the Cape Town Eisteddfod, winning three medals, including “Best Overall Creative Writer.”
Sports Achievements:
• The u.19 girls' cricket team celebrated a great win against Curro Hermanus on 17 October.
• Our athletics team performed brilliantly at the annual Top Ten Athletics Meeting.
• BD’s now have their own hammer-throwing facility thanks to generous donations and community support!
Upcoming Event:
• Jo Black Performance: On 1 November, the well-known singer will be speaking to students and staff. Parents are also welcome!
