Our learners have been busy achieving excellence across academics, culture, and sport.
Important Dates:
• 12–17 April: Sports days, Grade 11 tour, career expo (Gr. 9–12), and visit from Prince Harry School.
• 19 April: Public Holiday.
Staff News:
• Mrs. Mariana Wessels is recovering at home after surgery.
• Congratulations to Mr. Danlin Manuel and Mr. Sebastiaan Nieuwoudt on receiving their university degrees.
Birthdays:
• Rachel Vrettas (11 April), Soretha Kotzé (16 April), Andries Swart (30 April)
Consumer Studies:
• Grade 12s Renske Lottering, Lillian Nel, and Lee-Ann Stoltz competed in Warwick Chef School's "Chef of the Year" competition. They gained valuable experience, even though they didn’t place in the top 3.
Rugby:
• The Overberg Wealth & Risk Management U/19A team played in the Oakdale Tournament – won 1 out of 3 matches.
• They received the hostel award for best hygiene, neatness, and behavior.
• Thanks to sponsors for new kits, shirts, bags, and shorts.
Athletics:
• Urlinn Henecke won silver at the National School Sports Champs (4x100m relay) representing Western Cape.
Golf:
• Edmund O’Ehley (Gr. 9) won the U/19 boys category at the Langebaan 36-hole Open tournament.
Cycling:
• André Smit (Gr. 10) placed 8th in both the 500m time trial and 2000m pursuit at the SA Track Champs in Bellville.
Netball:
• U/14A and U/15A teams played in the Paarl Gim Festival – great wins and standout players.
• ROLA U/19 team placed 8th out of 20 schools at the La Rochelle Netball Tournament.
Youth Show (Jeugskou):
• Several learners won medals in junior/senior culinary arts, dairy preparation, and photography.
Underwater Hockey:
• Hugo and Suzanne Pretorius will represent Boland at the national championships this weekend. Old learner Elza de Kock is also in the women’s team.
