Caledon Wildflower Garden

The Caledon Wildflower Garden was established in 1927 on land bequeathed to the municipality of Caledon in 1899 by Queen Victoria.
The garden is one of the oldest in South Africa and until recently hosted one of the most celebrated wildflower shows on the planet.
Forming part of the nature reserve on the Swartberg Mountain north of Caledon, the garden is included in the Klein Swartberg Conservancy, which is known to be home to one of the largest collections of heather, about 234 species, most of which is the dainty Erica jasminiflora.
