We Care For Animals

BARC Animal Welfare is a Gansbaai-based non-profit organization, NPO no 187-051, that offers community’s in the greater Gansbaai, Stanford and Baardskeerdersbos areas affordable animal veterinary care services. BARC services include sterilization, dipping, parasite control and wound care. Furthermore, the BARC Kennels offer temporary boarding facilities for pets and are also a safe haven for abandoned animals who the team assist with controlled relocations and forever homes. The welfare organization rely heavily on donations and volunteer help and run a bargain shop selling bargain items such as clothing, books and bric-a-brac. Regular fundraising events are held to generate interest, awareness and funds to keep BARC self-sustainable.

BARC Kennels

BARC Animal Welfare has sheltered well-kept dog kennels and catteries that are run by a team of animal lovers. The animals are fed and exercised on a daily basis.

Services include:

Safe-haven for lost and abandoned pets
Boarding for pets when their humans are away from home

BARC Second Hand Shop

BARC Second Hand Shop is situated at the corner of Mark and Dirkie Uys Street (across from the Old Seaview Hotel). Funds generated go toward the medical care of abandoned pets.

The shop is a bargain hunters dream and sells:

Accessories
Books
Kitchen appliances
Crockery and cutlery

Bric-a-brac
Curtaining
Bedding
Small decor items
Toys

BARC Animal Welfare relies heavily on donations from the public so please keep them in mind when you next de-clutter or spring-clean. Any and all goods are welcome.

Fundraising Events

BARC Animal Welfare is visible at many of Gansbaai’s community events as well as hosting various fundraising activities to generate funds. Yearly events not to be missed are:

Golf Day at Kleinbaai Golf Club
Bazaar on Easter Weekend
Pancake sales outside Spar supermarket
Potjiekos Competition on National Braai Day
Stalls at all the major events in Gansbaai

Exciting news! BARC Animal Welfare has embarked on a wonderful initiate and we will be hosting a donation line for the care of our lovely animals! All you need to do is to SMS the word "BARC" and R30 will be donated to BARC Animal Welfare!

PURPOSE:

The purpose of BARC Animal Welfare's SMS donation line is to raise funds for the care and relieve from the suffering of mistreated and neglected animals in the greater Gansbaai, Stanford, Baardscheerdersbosch, Buffeljags and Pearly Beach areas of the Western Cape. Services provided by BARC Animal Welfare for the animals include sterilization, dipping and parasite control and re-homing to approved loving homes.
