Combined Engineering Solutions was founded on 1 April 2025 by Adriaan Hanekom.
With more than 17 years of experience in the abalone farming industry, Adriaan identified a gap in the market for a central, comprehensive engineering service provider.
CES specialises in turnkey projects, delivering services that range from conceptual design through to full installation. The company’s core strength is integrating multiple engineering disciplines into a seamless package.
Leveraging deep industry knowledge and a hands-on approach, CES combines expertise, precision, and innovation to deliver tailored solutions that meet each client’s unique needs. The company simplifies complex engineering challenges to ensure projects proceed smoothly from start to finish.

Adriaan is a qualified Electrical Engineer, having completed his studies at CPUT in 2006.
He grew up in the Overberg, spending his early years in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Caledon, giving him deep roots in the region.
After graduating, Adriaan worked in a communications company and farmed alongside his father before finding his place in the abalone industry. He stayed in the abalone sector from 2008 until launching CES - Combined Engineering Solutions.
Today, he combines his technical know-how with a genuine passion for serving the community he calls home.
Hein started his engineering journey in 1998 and, by 2007, was working across various African countries. His mechanical expertise includes drill rigs, pneumatics, hydraulics and large machinery.
Although Hein’s work took him far from home, he always had a soft spot for Gansbaai, where his family had a holiday home and spent many happy vacations. He officially moved to Gansbaai in 2016 but continued to work abroad until 2022. After returning to South Africa, he reconnected with Adriaan, a former colleague. The two had always worked well together, so continuing that partnership in the private sector at CES felt like a natural next step.
Wiseman is the go-to guy for getting things done at CES.
With his background in professional driving and previous experience working on an abalone farm as a guide and tank cleaner, he’s no stranger to hard work. These days, Wiseman is the general worker and driver at Combined Engineering Solutions, always ready to lend a hand wherever he’s needed.
